Terms & Conditions

Last updated: [REQUIRED BEFORE PUBLICATION: date of approval]

1. About these terms

These terms apply to your use of Guvy (https://guvy.co.uk). Guvy is operated by Reece Adamson, a sole trader in the United Kingdom trading as "Guvy" ("we", "us"). Guvy is not a limited company. Contact: info@guvy.co.uk, 22 Tees Close, Peterlee, County Durham, SR8 1HN.

By creating an account you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy.

2. What Guvy is — and is not

Guvy is an introduction platform. Customers post jobs; independent tradespeople view them, respond and send quotes; customers choose whether to accept a quote. Guvy does not perform any trade work, does not employ the tradespeople, and is not a party to any agreement between a customer and a tradesperson. Any contract for work is made directly between the customer and the tradesperson.

Guvy does not check tradespeople's qualifications, insurance, registrations (such as Gas Safe or NICEIC) or identity. Customers should make their own checks before hiring.

3. Accounts

  • You must be 18 or over and provide accurate details, including a valid UK mobile number.
  • Keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
  • One person or business per account. Do not impersonate anyone.

4. Fees

Guvy is currently free to use for customers and tradespeople. We will give notice before introducing any charges. Guvy does not take payments and has no payment system; any price for trade work is agreed directly between the customer and the tradesperson.

5. Customer responsibilities

  • Describe jobs honestly and accurately, and only upload photos you have the right to share.
  • Only post genuine jobs at locations where you are entitled to arrange work.
  • Make your own checks on a tradesperson before agreeing work.

6. Tradesperson responsibilities

  • Keep your profile, trades, service area and availability accurate.
  • Hold any qualifications, registrations and insurance required by law for the work you offer.
  • Carry out work with reasonable care and skill and comply with consumer law, including any cancellation rights customers have.
  • Only upload a profile picture or logo you have the right to use.

7. Quotes and acceptance

  • Quotes are given by tradespeople, not by Guvy. A quote on Guvy is an indication for the customer to consider; final price and scope should be confirmed directly between you.
  • When a customer accepts a quote, that tradesperson is selected for the job and both parties' mobile numbers are automatically shared with each other so the work can be arranged. Numbers are not shared with tradespeople who were not selected.
  • A customer may also book a tradesperson who has expressed interest in their job without a formal quote. Booking works in the same way as accepting a quote: the tradesperson is selected, mobile numbers are shared and the full postcode is shown to them. Booking does not take any payment; price, visit time and work details must be agreed directly between you.
  • Guvy is not responsible for the price, quality, timing or completion of any work.

Job completion

Only the customer who posted a booked job can mark it complete. This tells the tradesperson and moves the job to Completed for both of you. It cannot be undone on Guvy, and it is a record for the platform only — it is not a statement by Guvy that the work was done properly, and it does not affect your legal rights against each other.

Reviews

  • After marking a booked job complete, the customer may leave one review of the booked tradesperson: a rating of 1 to 5 stars and optional text of up to 1,000 characters. Only one review is allowed per completed job. The customer can edit their own review later.
  • Reviews must be honest and based on your own experience of that job. Do not include personal contact details, offensive or discriminatory content, or false statements.
  • Published reviews, the average star rating and the number of reviews are shown publicly on the tradesperson's profile and in listings. Reviews are shown as from a "Verified customer", without the customer's name or contact details.
  • Tradespeople cannot review themselves, edit or delete reviews. Any signed-in user can report a review. The operator reviews reports and may hide a review that breaks these terms; honest negative reviews are not removed for being negative. Every moderation decision is recorded with a reason.

8. Cancellations

Cancellation of agreed work is a matter between the customer and the tradesperson, under the terms they agree and any statutory rights (for example, consumer cancellation rights for contracts made away from business premises). Either party should tell the other as early as possible. Customers can withdraw (cancel) a job on Guvy at any time before accepting a quote. Once a quote has been accepted, cancellation arrangements are between the customer and the tradesperson, subject to applicable consumer rights.

9. Disputes

Disputes about work, price or payment are between the customer and the tradesperson. Guvy is not able to arbitrate or refund. You may report misuse of the platform (for example abusive messages or fake jobs) to info@guvy.co.uk, and we may suspend accounts or remove content in response.

10. Messaging and acceptable use

Do not use Guvy to send abusive, threatening, discriminatory, fraudulent or spam content, to harvest other users' contact details, or to break the law. Messages cannot currently be deleted once sent.

11. Suspension and closing your account

We may suspend or close accounts or remove content that breaks these terms. You can ask us to close your account at any time by contacting info@guvy.co.uk.

12. Our liability

We provide Guvy with reasonable care and skill but cannot guarantee it will always be available or error-free. We are not liable for the acts, omissions or work of any user. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer. [REQUIRED BEFORE PUBLICATION: have a solicitor review this section and any liability cap you wish to set]

13. Changes

We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date shows when they last changed.

14. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts, and nothing in these terms removes the mandatory consumer protections of the law where you live.
